Pregnancy sessions with wild boys are some of my favorite. There’s movement, noise, bare feet, curiosity, and a whole lot of personality—and that’s exactly the point. I don’t want kids to shrink themselves for the camera or feel like they need to perform. I want them to run, climb, interrupt, cuddle, and show up exactly as they are. When we let kids be free, we create space for real connection instead of forced moments. We go with the flow, follow their lead, and trust that the magic lives there. As Derek Henderson says, “I try and let people have the freedom to do what they want in front of the camera… My job is to capture that exuberance and that love of life.” That freedom is what turns a photo into a memory you can feel.
